Our Clients Love Us

In July of 2022 we lost our home to a wildfire. We were fortunate enough and grateful to be able to rebuild. Many things came together in a wonderful way to make that happen. And that happened again for us when it came time to rebuild the area outside of our house. We first learned about Mark, of Red Rocks Excavation, by seeing his work at the local cafe, Sweet Diane’s. Diane Asterita, the owner, had a parking area and some cement work done there. It looked simple and straightforward, but at the same time very skillfully done. The more we looked the more impressed we were, so we decided to give Mark a call. Lucky us! Our initial meeting was a walk around our property and a chat. Within a few days Mark sent us the quote, which considering all that we had planned, was quite reasonable. Mark is easy to talk to, very intuitive, has a good creative sense, is extremely versatile and skilled, and has one of the best work-ethics of anyone we have ever met, and to top it all off, his prices are fair!

We had a rough idea of what we wanted; almost immediately Mark was in-tune. Our top priority for outside the home was fire safety, but there were other considerations too. Drainage was a big one, since our house stands on a hill. Accessibility for friends with limited mobility was another. And finally, if it was not asking for too much, we wanted it all to look beautiful. It was Mark, who really made all this possible. Using heavy equipment and respecting what was already in place that had survived the fire, Mark was able to move huge piles of rock and dirt with the precision of a surgeon. We watched him lay down sections of gravel or dirt next to already poured concrete with the same delicacy someone else might return a teacup to its saucer. He seems to have an innate sense about the lay of the land as far as grading goes. Not to say he didn’t measure and calculate…He certainly did, but he was fast and confident. All of the steps that Mark made for us, both concrete (a 15-step masterpiece!) and gravel, not only look great, but they have a soft downward slope that will surely carry the rain where it’s supposed to go. This slight slope is also in the large concrete round-about he created in front of our house, another masterpiece!

His instincts regarding subcontractors is excellent as well. His crew for the concrete pours was quite good. He himself did the extensive prep work (no doubt the reason for its great success). But at the time of the actual concrete pour, Mark was hands-on involved, while keeping a careful eye out for perfection. All of the concrete work is colored to harmonize with the color of the house and the flat areas around the house are stamped with a pattern to add interest. Mark was very helpful in guiding us to decisions in that area, since it was all new to us. It turned out even better than imagined.

It is impossible to list all of Mark’s good qualities, as there really are too many. You can be confident, though, that if you choose to use Red Rocks Excavation, you will be happy you did. The wonderful transformation of our property with Mark’s help was fast, easy, affordable, and overall quite exciting to witness! Red Rocks Excavation, and Mark, truly are exceptional and we highly recommend them!
